I don't think it is very conceptual for the painter, probably very formal. I think this is the being painted in China, but I'm not 100% sure.

From my understanding art ranged from drawings to paintings, from architecture to sculptures. However now there are some things that are called "art", like conceptual art or wordworks, which are nothing more than sentences describing something that exists in the imagination.

Even pictures are taken as art nowadays. Which, in my opinion, is really strange.

context seems to be the defining parameter for art. specially if you aretalking "art world/ivory tower art. the type you r participating in. i don't even think it is worth to spend time thinking abt that, tho. you will arrive at a theoretical ouroboros.

It's a hit or miss process. These companies have hundreds of painters copying photos; some are better at it than others. generally I was happy with the way my Star trek/Bush admin hybrid turned out...certainly it was better than what I could have done. But really, when engaging a process like this, do the actual "results" even "matter?"

As for... See More art, these days it's nothing more (or less) than a deployment (of materials, services, actions, words, images, naked models, whatever) within a certain relational context...and a highly privileged one to boot.
